Discover Naltar Valley
Naltar Valley is one of Pakistan's best-kept secrets — a lush alpine valley at 3,028 metres accessible by a dramatic jeep track from Gilgit, rising through pine forests to reveal a hidden world of multicoloured lakes, wildflower meadows, and one of South Asia's only ski resorts. The three Naltar Lakes — each a different vivid hue of blue, green, and teal — sit side by side like jewels in the upper valley. In winter, Naltar transforms into a skiing destination used by the Pakistan Air Force and a small but devoted group of winter adventurers. In summer, the lakes and meadows are perfect for camping, photography, and peaceful trekking.
Things to Do
Travel Tips
- The jeep track to Naltar is only passable in a 4×4 vehicle.
- Carry a jacket even in summer — the lakes are windy and cold.
- The ski resort runs from January to March when snow is reliable.
